Most people who are into spiritualism may have heard of this word. Loosely translated, it is similar to Karma, but not the same.
Karma is what you have built through many life times on Earth.
If you do good deeds, you create good Karma that eventually comes back to you; hence, the saying "What goes around, comes around."
Kismet refers to your present incarnation on Earth, this very lifetime that you are experiencing.
Kismet is predetermined - those lessons you have come to learn. Where logic fails, Karma and Kismet can easily explain things.
Kismet is a powerful concept. It encompasses the attitude that some things in life are preordained and must be accepted as God's will. An example of Kismet may be an unfortunate thing happening to a loved one, or a very good thing.
If you won the lottery, that was your Kismet. You had nothing to do with it.
If you got hit by a bus and ended up in a wheel chair, that was your Kismet.
Hence, the following statement that is accepted by all mystics regardless of what religion they follow:
"All things (good or bad) come from God."
If you could only begin to understand this simple statement, it will change your life in a profound way.
When you accept God's will, those insurmountable obstacles don't seem so insurmountable anymore. You say, "It's God's will," and do the best you can without rebelling against God and questioning his wisdom.
He is all knowing.
