Invoking an archetype is very similar to praying. Here is an example:
Oh Thor, the Norse God of Thunder
I invoke you to help me with ........................(fill in the blank)
Since Thor is a patron of Law & Justice, and the defender of the "working class", you would invoke Thor for things to do with Law, Justice, and troubles at work. You would not invoke Thor to help you with your love life; for that you would invoke Aphrodite.
